Figure 5: Click to enlargeThe use of colour in a website may follow generic patterns when the palette reflects the style or content of the site. Figure 5 is of gardening websites. All use the same colour combination of green and yellow: perhaps to suggest the colours of plant and flower.

 

Figure 6: Click to enlargeFigure 6 is of oceanarium websites. The symbolism is of the resemblance of the oceanarium to the sea, and of the creatures of the sea.

 

Although seemingly obvious, there are many gardening and oceanarium websites that do not use these conventions.
