This site is about Nathan Windisch, born 14 weeks premature, he stayed at the Neonatal unit for 15 weeks.

Mon 28th June
Day 293
9M 19D

Nathan was a little off colour today. He brought up a huge lunch and wasn't really settled until a supper helping of porrage.

We've got another (hopefully final) overnight saturation test tonight. It's meant to be a final check that Nathan is coping without oxygen. And if we ever find out how to stop the machine from beeping every three minutes we'll be very happy indeed!

Sun 27th June
Day 292
9M 18D
As Nathan eats more food, he's drinking less milk. There's something much more comforting knowing that the lad has just eaten a huge amount of food. You just know that he's not going to be hungry for at least an hour, whereas that wasn't always the case with milk. He also brings less of it back up.
Sat 26th June
Day 291
9M 17D

We make all of Nathan's fruit-based foods. They get pureed and frozen. The current selection includes apple & pear, cherry and grape cubes.
We use shop bought savoury foods. Not many of them are palatable though, and if we don't want to taste them then why should the lad?

We use a tip from Nathan's Nan to get that savoury food into Nathan. We feed the lad alternate spoons of fruit and savoury. It's a technique originally used on Laura's brother.

Thu 25th June
Day 290
9M 16D

Kkkkkkkk is still the sound of choice, and not only does Nathan make it when he's happy, he looks at you with a "special" look when you make it.

While playing with a water bottle this morning, Nathan lifted it right up to his mouth. IT weighed 450g (1 lb), we knew he was strong.

Thu 24th June
Day 289
9M 15D
If you're eating while reading this then don't, because I'm going to describe the interesting phenomenon of Nathan's nappy change. He's a lot more regular since being on solids, and keeps us amused by the loud straining noises he makes to announce it's time to change the lad's nappy. The thing is, once the nappy is removed, Nathan is revealed as a fraud. There's nothing there... Until the nappy comes off, that is. Then it's pooooooooooo, poooooooooo. That's quite a trick for one so young.
Wed 23rd June
Day 288
9M 14D
The baby bouncer is still a bit of a challenge. The lad will get the hang of it in time.
Today was a clockwork day. Ate lots, slept lots. Wish you were here.
Tue 22nd June
Day 287
9M 13D

Today Nathan took delivery of his baby bouncer. He's still not quite sure what to do with it, but give him time...

The lad has been sick less often as he's been eating more solids. Well today it was more drinking and more accidents, even to the degree of requiring a change of clothes.
