This site is about Nathan Windisch, born 14 weeks premature, he stayed at the Neonatal unit for 15 weeks.

Mon 31st January
Day 511
1Y 4M 24D

After a rough coughy night the lad made a good recovery, especially when Nanna came to visit.

No new words, but Nathan may have determined the difference between "Ca" (cow) and "Ca ca" (quack quack - duck)

We saw crawling in earnest today. Nathan's distance record was smashed. Previously it was two crawls. It's now two feet.

Sun 30th January
Day 510
1Y 4M 23D
Nathan had a bit of a cold yesterday and a cough today. He started off in good spirits, but was a bit tired by the end of the day.
Sat 29th January
Day 509
1Y 4M 22D

A nice quiet family day. We went into town to get the lad a new batch of trousers. He seems to have outgrown all of his.

Some things that Nathan can do now.

  • Say "red" after he presses the button that says red on his steering wheel toy.
  • Crawl for about a foot, depending on how interesting his target is.
  • Help to put his jumpers and coat on by sticking his arms into the sleeves.
  • Pull himself up to his knees on handy stationary objects like a table, or dad
Fri 28th January
Day 508
1Y 4M 21D

With the hunger strike partially lifted Nathan deigned to eat a few morsels of carefully selected FOOD.

We had a good swim, even more kicking than before. All in all a pretty good day.

Thu 27th January
Day 507
1Y 4M 20D

The lad's still on his self-imposed diet of ship's biscuits and milk. Still, he seems well enough. We both enjoyed play group. We must have missed it last week.

Nathan's digestive system seems to be adjusting to the new diet. We had a poo yesterday and today. Today's milk intake was 21oz.

Wed 26th January
Day 506
1Y 4M 19D

Nathan's still on hunger strike, although he did eat quite a lot of toast, in part inspired by a small friend who is rather enthusiastic in his approach to food.

Jo Jingles was in the jungle this week. Musical instruments were a rattle and a tambourine, and the accessory was an animal mask.

Tue 25th January
Day 505
1Y 4M 18D

Nathan's still on hunger strike. He didn't eat much more than a couple of crackers all day. He did, however drink 24oz of milk.

We went to play group, and although Nathan didn't do much crawling, he seemed to express more confidence, and didn't get quite so stomped on. Dad volunteered to be on the committee.

In the afternoon we went swimming and Nathan loved it. We just doggy paddled around and around the pool for half an hour.
