This site is about Nathan Windisch, born 14 weeks premature, he stayed at the Neonatal unit for 15 weeks.

Mon 7th February
Day 518
1Y 4M 31D

Nathan was a bit toothachey today, not on his best form.

He did manage to pull out all the stops for Nanna's first view of the lad crawling. Nathan zipped around the room like a good 'un

Sun 6th February
Day 517

A bit more crawling, some eating (of yoghurt and honey), which was nice. Oh and Nathan may well have said "Yes" when asked if he wanted some milk. (He must have drunk 30oz today).
Sat 5th February
Day 516
1Y 4M 29D

A nice quiet day. Lots of crawling, five nappies and a tired old Nathan by bedtime.

The lad's got a strange sense of humour. His best joke is calling things that obviously aren't ducks "quack quack". Today it was shoes.

Fri 4th February
Day 515
1Y 4M 28D
Nathan's starting to enjoy his new found mobility. Today's artifact of interest was shoes. The lad's got a bit of a fixation on his own shoes and he now has a chance to explore everyone else's as well.
Thu 3rd February
Day 514
1Y 4M 27D

Today's crawling record was seven feet. We cheered and Nathan beamed. He's more prone to sitting and staring when we go to toddler's group though.

There was a moment when Nathan crawled through from the living room to the kitchen for the first time. He hovered over the threshold, and spent a few minutes leaning and looking, first at one room, then the other, then the first again. Just savouring the moment.

The health visitor said Nathan's lack of eating was almost certainly down to teething. We're going to visit her on Friday week. I dread the moment of truth on the scales.

Wed 2nd February
Day 513
1Y 4M 26D

Jo Jingles was in the country this week. Instruments were a sounding board and hammer, and a triangle. Nathan just about got to grips with the triangle. The prop was five parent blowing bubbles around the room. The kids loved it.

We went to the physiotherapist who was very pleased with Nathan's progress. We're now to work on getting the lad to stand by getting him to pull himself up on a table (which he already does) and placing first one foot, then the other on the floor.

Something's clicked. Nathan no longer crawls somewhere only to return back to his starting position. He's realised that he can go wherever he wants.

Unfortunately the lad's still on hunger strike. It's been two weeks and it's time to contact the health visitor.

Tue 1st February
Day 512
1Y 4M 25D

Nathan continues to improve his crawling abilities. He managed three feet today, and just can't stop crawling! As long as someone's there to keep moving his various "toys on string" to the correct distance away then he'll keep on crawling after them. Backwards and forwards, backwards and forwards.

Playgroup was unexceptional. The lad hadn't caught up on his sleep.

After a nice long lunchtime nap we went swimming, and Nathan really got into it. The water was nice and warm so we spent 45 minutes in the pool. Nathan steered dad around and every now and then paddled furiously when something interesting came within site.
