This site is about Nathan Windisch, born 14 weeks premature, he stayed at the Neonatal unit for 15 weeks.

Mon 10th April
Day 581
1Y 7M 3D
Not a bad day at all. Apart from a spot of toothache, the lad was happy and active all day. Having a two hour forty minute sleep at midday helped, of course.
Sun 9th April
Day 580
1Y 7M 2D

We went to Wellington Country Park. Nathan managed to sleep through the first hour and a half, but woke up to see the animals. He was very interested, but you're not allowed to touch them it wasn't as good as Odds Park Farm.

Some new words are slowly creeping into the lad's babble, you have to listen out, but we heard "foot" today, spoken quite clearly.

Sat 8th April
Day 579
1Y 7M 1D
Not the very best of days. Nathan was straining a bit. The health visitor has suggested using suppositories before things get desperate will train Nathan's system to be more regular.
Fri 7th April
Day 578
1Y 6M 30D

Nathan didn't think much of swimming today. Possibly he was a bit tired.

On the stair-climbing front, we're up to eight steps with minimal assistance.

Thu 6th April
Day 577
1Y 6M 29D

We went to the University Medical Centre today to see the health visitor. Nathan weighed in at 8.22kg (18lb 2oz), which is good. He's back on the 0.4 percentile line.

We also asked some questions, about Nathan's coughing and being sick (normal) and his detachment from food (also normal).

We'll also now get the lad's Oilatum (non-soapy bath stuff) on prescription, which is handy.

Wed 5th April
Day 576
1Y 6M 28D

Nathan's getting better at kissing, he puckers up now. It's still very wet (especially as the lad has a cold) but it's lovely all the same.

We went to Odd's Farm Park today. To say that Nathan loved it would be an understatement, he squealed with excitement most of the time. We bottle fed some lambs (they put the lad to shame in terms of speed, capacity and volume), stroked a rabbit (Stroking is a concept alien to the lad, the poor animal almost had its head pulled off by its ears), and watched a cow being milked. We also fed some goats, and stroked many many animals. Nathan slept for two hours after that, and he'd hardly crawled at all by that time.

Tue 4th April
Day 575
1Y 6M 27D

Nathan's taken to pointing at things over the last few days. We can't work out at what, but it's a start.

Another good crawl around at Tuesday playgroup. Nathan used a few of his lives as he crawled, putting his fingers right next to kiddie-cars as they hurtled past him. He wasn't squished once.
