This site is about Nathan Windisch, born 14 weeks premature, he stayed at the Neonatal unit for 15 weeks.

Mon 19th June
Day 651
1Y 9M 12D

Today we went to Crealy park. It's another amusement park. We had a great time. They even had toddler specific play areas. We had a crawl about these, saw the animals, rode a merry-go-round, played in the sand pit, and rode in an electric toy tractor. Nathan was very very tired after all that.

The cold is mostly better. Nathan's having a great time. He's learned where all the "no no" areas in the new house are, and has been very good about avoiding them.

Sun 18th June
Day 650
1Y 9M 11D

Nathan had a rough old night. He'd caught a cold yesterday, and coughed all night, which kept us all awake. One of us then had the leisurely experience of a two hour sleep in his buggy to recover.

We spent most of the day at Pecorama, a very nicely kept railway-themed gardens. It was most enjoyable.

Sat 17th June
Day 649
1Y 9M 10D

The first day of our holiday. We started early in order to beat the traffic, and the plan worked. We're renting a house in Beer, Devon, just off the main street.

When we arrived, the lad explored the whole house. It's child-friendly, with toys, changing mat and stair-gate supplied.

If Nathan was car crazy before then he's now car insane. It seems the trip to Devon was to appreciate the cars. Any car will do, even a van in fact. There's a Postman Pat kiddy ride on the main street, and the lad just loves it, nodding his head to the music,, beeping the horn, and looking at the people (and the cars) going by.

Fri 16th June
Day 648
1Y 9M 9D

We rejoiced as Nathan weighed in at 8.38 kg (18lb 7½oz). He's back on track.

Granny came to visit, and Nathan threw hiself about the house squealisng with abandon for most of the day.

Thu 15th June
Day 647
1Y 9M 8D

When Nathan thinks of doing something that he knows he's not meant to, he says "no no". It can be very handy if you're not actually watching him at the time.

We went to playgroup. Nathan wasn't in the best of moods. He really needed some sleep.

Later in the afternoon, we did what dad has really been dreaming about doing for a long time, only Nathan hasn't been old enough to appreciate it until now. We went and fed the ducks.

The set up at the Maiden Erleigh Nature Reserve (local pond) is very good. There's a wire fence which keeps the more violent birds (those swans) out of harm's way, but we can still feed them bread through the gaps. Nathan kept laughing as the swans took the bread. Next step is for the lad to eat the bread on the way there. Perhaps in a year's time.

Wed 14th June
Day 646
1Y 9M 7D

First we went to Hickory Dickory Dock where there's a whole bunch of new songs to learn.

Then on to Odd's Farm Park where Grandpa met up with us and helped to feed the animals.

Finally we went to the physiotherapist, who suggested that the lad do more standing from a squatting position, and lent us some little boots to help support Nathan's feet when standing, as little people's arches don't develop until later, and his feet are turning inwards when he stands.

Tue 13th June
Day 645
1Y 9M 6D

We went to Bucklebury Farm Park with Nathan's Tuesday play group. The coach ride was bumpy, but for the lad it must have been just like a buggy ride. As for the animals, well Nathan slept through that part, which is partially a good thing because we're going to Odd's Farm Park tomorrow.
