This site is about Nathan Windisch, born 14 weeks premature, he stayed at the Neonatal unit for 15 weeks.

Mon 26th June
Day 658

The forecast was for warmth but with sea breezes, so we put off going to the beach for one more day, and went back to Pecorama.

We spent a very pleasant day there, mum and dad having a game of crazy golf while the lad slept. We had another ride on the train, and relaxed on a blanket in the picnic area.

Later we went to Beer beach where the International 14 foot yacht races are taking place. They're strange boats; they don't have any backs to them.

Sun 25th June
Day 657

The forecast promised good weather so we went to the seaside, to Sidmouth. Unfortunately neither the weather or the beach were as advertised, being cool rather than warm, and composed of hardcore rather than sand respectively.

We moved on to Lyme Regis, which was sandier, and the weather cheered up a bit as well, but we still spent the day in our coats.

Sat 24th June
Day 656
1Y 9M 17D

Today we went to Bicton Park Gardens. It's got a train that runs around the gardens at about 5mph. I think that's five different train rides (and one tram ride) so far this holiday, and all because of the enthusiastic way that Nathan nods and bobs his head when he's imitating the sound of a train whistle. All through the day we heard the train go "peep peep" and every time the lad responded in kind.

We got Nathan a new book at the Haynes Motor Museum the other day. Its got pictures of a car, a bicycle, a van, a train etc. Nathan has learned, and can say the names of all of these vehicles (albeit in a "Nathaned" manner, motorbike becomes mo-o-o-o-ou). That's due to his cleverness, and his intense interest in car-type objects.

Fri 23rd June
Day 655
1Y 9M 16D
It threatened to rain all day. We went to the Seaton Tramway, which was nearly as good as a train, as far as the lad was concerned.
Thu 22nd June
Day 654
1Y 9M 15D

With the weather still not so good we went back to Crealy Park. Nathan crawled and climbed until he was fit to drop. He should sleep well tonight (he's been waking up at 5:30 the last two mornings).

Dad was telling Nathan that the farmer drove the truck and the lad said e-i-e-i-o. We've taught him to whisper "aaahhh" as the answer to "what do you do when you've drunk your coffee?". He now goes aaahhh if coffee is mentioned by anyone. It proves how alertly the lad is listening all the time.

Wed 21st June
Day 653
1Y 9M 14D

Midsummer's day, and the weather isn't as good as it has been. We decide to go for an indoor attraction, and drive to the Haynes (as in the car manuals) Motor museum. Not the best of moves as the lad gets very frustrated at not being able to touch the cars.

Later we go to the Wildlife Park at Cricket St.Thomas which is a bit more successful. Lots of animals, including lemurs, and best of all, a train.

Tue 20th June
Day 652
1Y 9M 13D

A less frenetic day today, partially because the lad had a two and a half hour sleep at midday: we went back to Pecorama and had another ride on the train, and a game of crazy golf that the lad got the giggles over.

Sometimes Nathan says something like "three" after we say "one, two". After the lad had passed her three consecutively green lego bricks, mum asked him what colour they were. He said "green".
