This site is about Nathan Windisch, born 14 weeks premature, he stayed at the Neonatal unit for 15 weeks.

Tue 18th July
Day 680
1Y 10M 11D
We went to toddler group today. Nathan didn't crawl around on his own as much as ususal, but he did get a go in one of the "Flintstone" cars while no one else was looking.
Mon 17th July
Day 679
1Y 10M 10D

Nanna and Gramps came today. Nathan met them halfway up the road in his little car.

Dad was counting, and the lad interrupted on the count of eight by counting it himself. He continually surprises us.

Sun 16th July
Day 678
1Y 10M 9D

We went to Grandma's house to meet up with most of Nathan's UK based relatives. There were two other little 'uns, 2½ years, Nathan (22 months) and 3 months. The lad had a good day. He wanted to do and play with everything that the older one was doing.

In the morning the lad helped dad do the laundry by taking his socks off and putting them into the machine.

In the evening Nathan strung two words together for the first time by saying "Goodnight Daddy" (the first time he said "Goodnight" as well).

Sat 15th July
Day 677
1Y 10M 8D
Nathan's feeling a bit better, although his lack of sleep's made him a bit grumpy. The lad's been standing up and cruising more than ever. Will he walk before his second birthday?
Fri 14th July
Day 676
1Y 10M 7D
Nathan had a little sniffle yesterday, and today it's a cold. The poor lamb's a bit under the weather, and dad didn't have the chance to update the site, because the lad was up pretty much all night.
Thu 13th July
Day 675
1Y 10M 6D

We returned to Thursday Toddler Group after a break of three weeks, and the lad was back on Dad's knee for most of the session. No doubt he'll be back to crawling around the place in the near future.

We had a little trip to the local busy road just to watch the cars. Nathan loved it, but after half an hour he started to get a bit fractious, and was whinging away. Dad tried to get his attention by saying "Nathan... Nathan... NATHAN". The lad responded with "WHAT", which may just possibly be what dad does to the lad in similar circumstances.

Mum came home and managed to convince Nathan, who was cruising around a kitchen chair, to take a few steps while holding her hands.

Wed 12th July
Day 674
1Y 10M 5D

Nathan started the day with some teething pain, and also suffered from his perennial constipation problem.

We went to music class, and another little lad, who we've known for a while, came and sat on dad's knee whereupon the lad burst into tears. Jealousy is a terrible thing.

The weather forcast had guaranteed a rare sunny day, so a little group of us had planned a picnic at Wellington Country Park. The weather was not as good as advertised, but nevertheless we had a lovely time. Activities included the picnic, a romp around the play area (Nathan stayed on his blanket), a tour of the animals, and a ride on a train.

The lad's not been going to sleep as easily since our return from holiday. He needs one of us in the room with him while he dozes off at night (during the day Nathan just kips whenever he feels like it).

Tue 11th July
Day 673
1Y 10M 4D

Nathan ate a surprisingly large number of things today (for a boy on permanent hunger strike). Including biscuits, toast, and crisps. Not exactly health food, but it'll do.

The lad's continuing to make progress with his walking. Today he cruised around a chair, and cruised while stepping over dad's leg. As his legs get stronger, he's starting to enjoy it!
