This site is about Nathan Windisch, born 14 weeks premature, he stayed at the Neonatal unit for 15 weeks.

Mon 25th September
Day 749

Nathan's caught a cold, so we went straight home, instead to going to adjacent Longleat House. The lad was a bit miserable all day, but we had a lovely holiday.

Day 748

Nathan's language becomes more complex. He says things like "mummy car"( mummy's car), "mummy shoe" (mummy's shoe), "keys" etc.

We're always telling Nathan "Don't throw things" and now, when he's throwing things he says "Don't things", so he's halfway there.

The lad went swimming with mum this morning. He didn't really enjoy it, but wanted to snuggle up, so much so that several people thought that he'd gone to sleep on her shoulder, when in fact he hadn't.

We went back to the ball room. There were lots of kids around. Nathan's starting to interact but he's still very passive around other children.

Sat 23rd September
Day 747

Nathan thinks he likes yoghourt. He asks for it, and even gnaws on the pot if you don't open it for him. When you do, he won't eat the contents.

On the subject of eating, the lad had another go at some grapes.

It's a very comfortable villa. They even do the washing up while you're out.

We took Nathan to a sand pit and he played happily until another small child threw sand in his face. We moved onto a ball pit and had more success. We went out on a boat, and the lad fell immediately asleep. He woke up to see Mum and Dad playing crazy golf, and loved to watch, chuckling every time we hit the ball.

Fri 22nd September
Day 746
2Y 0M 14D

We went for a long weekend's holiday at Centerparcs at Longleat Forest. The hour and a half drive wasn't too bad. The lad got a bit restless but we managed to keep him amused.

Centerparcs' policy is that you park your car at the main car park and walk, or cycle for the rest of the time, and boy did we walk! So did Nathan. He's holding our hands now, and toddling. His extra mobility is timed perfectly and really makes a difference to the lad's enjoyment of the holiday.

Nathan liked the fish in the streams in the big dome and wanted to step in with them. He also liked a slide in one of the outdoor play areas. It had a small rope bridge, which the lad traversed alright. He was very scared going down the slide but did it anyway. Several times.

Nathan becomes a real chocoholic. He used the word "more" several times today as in "more milk", "more chocolate".

The lad took to our "villa" and had no trouble treating the new bedroom as his own. He slept well.

Thu 21st September
Day 745
2Y 0M 13D

Not much happened today. We went to Cintra Dad's group (definitely need more dads, we're down to three), and Nathan spent most of the time on dad's lap.

When mum came home, the lad showed off by balancing with his hands on her shoulders (she was sitting down), pushing off, and standing momentarily. We both clapped.

Wed 20th September
Day 744
2Y 0M 12D

We went to music class today and Nathan was more "with it" than ever before. He received the claves with enthusiasm, and started banging them, he sat up on the stage steps at the end of class just like the other kids, and he even repeated some of the nursery rhymes.

The lad's language is getting better as well. His word for bulldozer was previously "bulldee", but is now bull-d-dozer. Nathan was also heard saying "Man on digger car". His first sentence, and car related!

One of the birthday presents was a wooden "Brio" train set. Nathan has learned to detach and re-attach some of the pieces.

Tue 19th September
Day 743
2Y 0M 11D

A trip to Silverdale Road toddler's group. Nathan played on his own a lot, and even played near some other children.

The lad's eating seems to be improving as teething comes to an end. He also seems to have develped a fondness for chocolate (called cholet). Definitely his mother's son then.
