This site is about Nathan Windisch, born 14 weeks premature, he stayed at the Neonatal unit for 15 weeks.

Mon 23rd October
Day 777
2Y 1M 16D

Nanna came today. Nathan had a lovely day with her, and decided not to sleep until she had gone and we'd watched "Tweenies" and "Bob the builder" on television.

The lad's dexterity is improving daily. He seems always to be wiggling his fingers, in anticipation of opening or twisting something.

Sun 22nd October
Day 776
2Y 1M 15D

We all had a very laid back Sunday. The only trip outside was to encourage the lad to have his afternoon nap.

Nathan saw "Pingu" on the television for the first time this mornng. We've been reading him Pingu books for some time, and even have a tape of one of the books. The lad often requests this by telling us "Pingu radio".

Sat 21st October
Day 775
2Y 1M 14D

We took Nathan to feed the ducks in the morning (as requested by the lad himself) then to Deep Sea Den for a good old run around.

Nathan's getting realy good at using three word sentences now: "Walk to Daddy" "Feed the ducks" whereas previously the middle word would have been "a".

Fri 20th October
Day 774
2Y 1M 13D

Granny came today and Dad took the opportunity to go out for the day, so not much to report.

We're still trying to get Nathan to eat more, but although the techniques seemed sound, they're meeting resistance. We shall persevere.

Thu 19th October
Day 773
2Y 1M 12D

Thursday group again and Nathan decided to stand, for what seemed to be for ten seconds!

It's partially the shoes, because later, and shoeless, the lad couldn't manage more than a second or so. We're giving Nathan lots and lots of praise when he does this: another microstep towards walking.

Wed 18th October
Day 772
2Y 1M 11D

Today was music class followed by a visit to a friend.

Nathan's really getting into the music class. It always follows the same basic structure and so the kids know what's coming next after a while. Today he sat on the stage steps at the end of the class with the other children with almost no prompting. He's really starting to enjoy it.

Tue 17th October
Day 771
2Y 1M 10D

We went to toddler group today. Nathan crawled all over the place and was braver when another child came close.

The lad ate a bit better today, and was in a better mood. The "Postman Pat" fromage frais isn't nearly as effective in appetising the lad as the "Bob the Builder" was. If only I could remember where we got it.
