This site is about Nathan Windisch, born 14 weeks premature, he stayed at the Neonatal unit for 15 weeks.

Sun 6th November
Day 791
2Y 1M 30D

Nathan had a grumpy old day, even though Nanna came to visit.

He started off by refusing to wear his clothes. He had to be forced into them.

Then he didn't sleep until 4:00 pm, drank 100ml of Pediasure plus, so he wasn't hungry for supper, and didn't go to sleep until 7:50, miles after his usual time. He's still our little angel though.

Sun 5th November
Day 790
2Y 1M 29D

We didn't do much today, just played around the house.

Nathan's getting bossy. He orders mum and dad around, saying things like "sit there".

The lad also bosses around his new friend: a teddy bear that's been lying around the place for a while, unnoticed, but is now named Leo (by Nathan). Leo's a handy bear to have around because when Nathan's not hungry, Leo sometimes is, and then Nathan suddenly is again. Very strange.

Last night mum asked Nathan (who looked like he was trying to get something out of his mouth) "what's in your mouth". Nathan replied "teeth".

Sat 4th November
Day 789
2Y 1M 28D
We went to "The Thatchers" once again. Nathan had a nice crawl around the place, and tucked into crackers as we ate our lunch. This "not filling up with milk before a meal" theory seems to be working.
Fri 3rd November
Day 788
2Y 1M 27D

Granny came today. Nathan had a lovely day.

The lad uses the word "green" to emphasise particular words. If he really wants some milk it's "green milk", if he really wants you to sit on a chair it's a "green chair". If he's really really keen on something then it's "white green ..."

Thu 2nd November
Day 787
2Y 1M 26D

We went to see the health visitor for a quick chat, then onto Cintra park toddler group. Nathan had a sleep on the way back, and woke up in time for Tweenies.

It's hard work keeping Nathan from his milk for two hours before mealtimes, but all the crying was worth it this evening: the lad ate some apple, for the first time in ages.

Wed 1st November
Day 786
2Y 1M 25D

Another visit to the dietician. The lad now weighs 9.14kg (20oz 2lb). His weight is no longer corrected so he's now well below the 0.4 percentile line.

We'll continue with more of the same regime, making sure that Nathan doesn't fill up on Pediasure plus (the new prescription, and more filling than plain Pediasure) for at least two hours before meal times, and keep on playing with food. We'll have a go with dry food, like corn flakes, then move onto cooked pasta (slightly moist) then onto jelly, porridge and custard.

We then went on to Hickory Dickory Dock. This half term it's Christmas songs.

After class we went to see a friend's pony. Nathan had a very brief sit on her. He liked it, but it was a bit scary for him.

Tue 31st October
Day 785
2Y 1M 24D

The rains stopped Nanna from vising once again today.

Instead we went to toddler group, and then went walking around Woodley for an hour, just going where Nathan wanted to go.

We've got a children's tape based on characters called the Gazunder Gang, a bunch of toys that live under the bed, and it's Nathan's favourite thing at the moment. The cassette will probably wear out soon and give us some peace.
