Mon 12th February
Day 889
2Y 5M 5D |
Nanna came today. Nathan seems to be fully recovered
from his cold and was in fine fettle. His appetite has also returned. |
Sun 11th February
Day 888
2Y 5M 4D |
Not the best of nights for Nathan, but thankfully
he slept for three hours during the day. By late afternon the lad
seemed to have recovered. Let's hope we have a better night tonight. |
Sat 10th February
Day 887
2Y 5M 3D |
We went to the Thatcher's pub today with a little
friend. Nathan had a lovely time. In the afternoon Nathan started
to get a cold, and by the evening was coughing away almost as badly
as he did over Christmas. |
Fri 9th February
Day 886
2Y 5M 2D |
We went to see the health visitor today. Nathan weighs 9.60kg
(21lb 2oz), which is just a tad less than the day he went into
hospital. Still, he's definitely on the up, and eating, so there's
no cause for concern. He's also grown a couple of centimeters
over the last couple of months. He's now 83cm.
The health visitor was very impressed with Nathan's progress,
particularly when, while reading a book about babies bouncing
on the bed, he said something like (but in fewer words)"Baby's
nappy falling down, my nappy falling down".

Thu 8th February
Day 885
2Y 5M 1D |
Cintra Park
today, followed by a visit from some friends. Nathan got really
excited during the visit. He whizzed around the living room for
twenty minutes. |
Wed 7th February
Day 884
2Y 4M 31D |
We went to Hickory Dickory Dock today. Nathan got
really involved. Now he's "found his feet", however, it's
time for him to learn to sit down when it's sitting down time. This
is one of those skills that the teacher at this class is insistent
on, and it's one of the many reasons that we go to this class. She
teaches these important skills early on. |
Tue 6th February
Day 883
2Y 4M 30D |
Today we went to the Royal Berkshire Hospital to pick up the
lad's shoes (exactly the same design as before). We also saw the
opthalmologist who says that
the lad's doing fine, and has asked to see him again in six months.
Finally we went to Buscot ward, where Nathan spent the first fifteen
weeks of his life. Two of the nurses who cared for him just over
two years ago were there and they both remembered him. It goes
without saying, but should be said many more times that Nathan
owes his life several times over to the staff at Buscot.
In the afternoon we went to Whoosh! with a whole host of friends.
Nathan's imagination is coming on nicely. At supper he started
saying "come on frogs, eat it up", and later on referred
to the frogs again. We saw some frogs at the Aquatic
Experience last week, so perhaps they are what he's referring
to.
