This site is about Nathan Windisch, born 14 weeks premature, he stayed at the Neonatal unit for 15 weeks.

Nanna came today and Nathan painted, played in the sandbox, and generally ran about all day. He had a great time.

We've been watching wildlife outside the back window. Nathan loves all animals. Even the squirrels that dig up our lawn looking for nuts, and the ants in his sandbox (should be less of those tomorrow). On a short trip into Woodley today Nathan stopped to say hello to the pigeons.

A most enjoyable trip to Syon park with Grandpa today. We went to the Aquatic Experience and Snakes and Ladders. On the way out we watched the model railway steam past within the borders of Syon house itself. Nathan said "Go on the train please, please" but it was too late. Maybe next time.

Nathan's got such a wonderful fake frown than we're jokingly teaching him a bit of method acting. He does the frown and the smile perfectly, we're working on a fake cry and a look of surprise.

Day 964

A good food day, Nathan felt hungry several times, and ate as a result of it. We went into Woodley for a quick shop, played in the garden, and that was about it. We all enjoyed today.

Day 963

Granny came today and Nathan was on form. They went and played in the local park (Sol Joel park). Nathan had a lovely day, and ate well as well.
Thu 26th April
Day 962

Uncle Adrian came to visit today. We went to feed the ducks, and played on the swings and slides. By the end of the day the lad was ordering Adrian about just like he does mum and dad. It was a sign of total acceptance.
Wed 25th April
Day 961

We went to the Orthotics department at the Royal Berkshire Hospital today to get Nathan's feet measured. He's grown a size so they'll order a new pair of shoes for him. The lad chose red rather than the black that we've had for the last two pairs. Still the same design though, Nathan's a conservative little chap.

Then onto Hickory Dickory dock. Nathan had his best time ever: he danced and sang, and sat on the steps, and took a toy out of the bag at the end, and all without being carried or needing his hand held once.

Later in the afternoon, the lad was feeling very tired. He rejected having a bottle in dad's arms, but decided to drink it lying on the floor instead. He fell asleep there, the first time that he's just decided to go to sleep for his own benefit, and done so with no props (being held, being in a buggy/car seat etc).

Nathan said "Elephant" today. The full version, not just the "Elant" of days past.

Tue 24th April
Day 960
2Y 7M 16D

Back to Maiden Erlegh Parent Toddler Group after the holidays, Nathan was a bit clingy, he's getting a cold and still recovering from his ankle injury, so it's to be expected.

The lad spotted two collared doves pecking each other in a mating ritual on our garden fence. He first thought that they were eating, but was happy with the explanation "kissing"

Nathan's rather taken by the expression "What a silly daddy I am", and variations (Mummy, Nathan). Today he said "What a silly me I am".
