This site is about Nathan Windisch, born 14 weeks premature, he stayed at the Neonatal unit for 15 weeks.
Mon 7th May
Day 973
2Y 7M 29D

Nathan and mummy went off to see Nanna and Grandad. They all had a great time. Nathan did lots of fun stuff including playing with some new toys and in the garden.

More blue cakes were baked upon the lad's return. They were blue yesterday because the recipie called for vanilla extract, but we only had food colouring. Blue today, because Nathan's decided that cakes are blue.

Sun 6th May
Day 972
2Y 7M 28D
Another quiet day. Nathan enjoyed playing with a "Tweenie clock" that we made with him. We also made cakes together, after reading a story about making cakes. They were very nice, although the lad didn't have any.
Sat 5th May
Day 971
2Y 7M 27D
A quiet day, trying to get into the hang of the new eating regime. We also went to feed the ducks and play on the swings and slides.
Fri 4th May
Day 970
2Y 7M 26D

Granny came to visit today. As soon as she arrived, Nathan was asking to go on the train ("please, please") so, after a while, that's what they did.

Ealier in the day we'd been to see the psychologist. She asked all about Nathan's history and then made some practical suggestions about the lad's eating.

  • Go to five meals a day (3 main plus 2 snacks)
  • Less Ribena (and start to dilute it) before meals
  • TV at lunchtime, use a special video that only gets turned on when he's eating, and turn it off if he stops before he's finished.

We're going back in a fortnight, so we'll see what effects these suggestions have.

Thu 3rd May
Day 969
2Y 7M 25D
We spent most of the day at a friend's place in Winchester. We all had a lovely day, especially at the local park, which has swings, slides and a sandpit.
Wed 2nd May
Day 968
2Y 7M 24D

Hickory Dickory Dock was fun. Nathan joined in once again.

Then into Reading for a quick shop to replace a bowl broken in the morning when Nathan was helping to put the crockery away. We went with friends and returned to their house to play afterwards.

Shoehorned into all this activity was a visit to the dentist. He says that Nathan's teeth are fine. There's some chipping of the enamel, but this is usual, and is caused by grinding.

Tue 1st May
Day 967
2Y 7M 23D

We went to Maiden Erlegh toddler group today, and Nathan happily went off and played with his favourite toys: a garage, a sit-in car, and a train set. He had a great time, and even (with some fuss) sat with a friend while dad did his washing up stint.

Then onto Whoosh, where the lad tumbled and crawled all over the place.
