This site is about Nathan Windisch, born 14 weeks premature, he stayed at the Neonatal unit for 15 weeks.
Mon 14th May
Day 980
2Y 8M 7D

Nathan's slowly getting more active, especially when he's just eaten. The lad's slowly eating more as the three meals/two snacks routine becomes just that, a routine. This means that Nathan's getting keener on climbing things, so he's falling over more, oh well.

Nanna came today and Nathan did some painting plus lots of running around.

One of the lad's favourite expressions is "What you doing daddy/mummy", sometimes for curiosity's sake, sometimes just for a joke.

Sun 13th May
Day 979

We've made the most of the lovely weather today, playing in the garden. We're also using lots of sun block.
Sat 12th May
Day 978
2Y 8M 5D

We had a little shop in Woodley today, including lunch at a coffee shop, then onto a visit to some neighbours.

Nathan seems to be giving up his afternoon nap. It only happens once a week these days. It means a longer day, but the lad doesn't hang around getting to sleep by bedtime. Nathan seems to be sleeping a little longer in the mornings as well.

Fri 11th May
Day 977
2Y 8M 4D

Nathan had a lovely time over at Granny and Grandpa's although he had a little less sleep than usual.

Dad picked him up in the afternoon and we went to a "garden" party at a little friend's house, just in time for a thunderstorm to end what had been a hot and sunny day.

Thu 10th May
Day 976
2Y 8M 3D

We went to visit Granny and Grandpa today. Nathan, Grandpa and Dad went to London Zoo for the day.

We enjoyed it and weather was glorious, but Nathan's favourite thing was the gift shop, possibly because it was the only place where you could touch things (foot and moouth precautions have closed the children's zoo) and you didn't need to be at least four foot high to enjoy it, unlike most of the zoo.

Then back to Granny and Grandpa's where Nathan will be spending his first night away from home without mum and dad. He seems to be looking forward to it.

Wed 9th May
Day 975
2Y 8M 2D

An early morning call from the orthotics department at the hospital to say that Nathan's shoes were ready to be fitted led to a slight change of plan. We got to the hospital early and Nathan's new red shoes look wonderful.

We had a bit of time to spare, so we visited those wonderful nurses at Buscot ward to show the lad off. Buscot is where Nathan was looked after for the first 15 weeks of his life. He's become rather fond of the mural of Thomas the Tank Engine on the walls.

While walking along the corridors of the hospital we had a little ride on a US style golf cart from a very kind gentleman who was testing it out for possible future use.

Another good session at Hickory Dickory Dock. Nathan really enjoys this class now.

Afterwards we spent the afternoon with a little friend. This one loves to boss Nathan around, and Nathan seems to love being bossed around.

Tue 8th May
Day 974
2Y 8M 1D

We went to toddler group today and Nathan (after twenty minutes) shot off on his own to play for a while. The only way is up.

Then to a friend's house, and off for a swim. We haven't been for five weeks and Nathan wasn't confident at all. We'll have to go more regularly.
