This site is about Nathan Windisch, born 14 weeks premature, he stayed at the Neonatal unit for 15 weeks.

Day 1056

Off to Shires for the day. We've been to it's sister park Crealy more than once, and always enjoyed ourselves.

Today was no exception, even if the weather was a little on the wet side. We went down lots of slides, including a water slide. Nathan loved every minute.

Mon 30th July
Day 1055

Nathan woke up at a glorious 9:15am so, without our usual early start we decided to do something simple and spent the day on the beach, building sand castles and tunnels, and eating crisps.

Day 1054

After a quick ride on the Bob the builder machine we drove to Dobwalls again. It's 30 miles away, but well worth the second trip.

There's two inter linked train rides, lots of slides and climbing equipment and soft play rooms. Especially good were the pine tree covered outdoor play areas. A welcome break from the sun in what's turned out to be a wonderfully hot holiday.

Sat 28th July
Day 1053
2Y 10M 19D
First a foray into Haven's Tropicana Centre to ride on Bob the builder and to play on the soft play equipment, then, after a snooze, a swim at Waterworld, then a walk across the car park to the Newquay zoo. A very full day, and an enjoyable one too.
Fri 27th July
Day 1052

After going into Perranporth to get our clothes laundered we went to Dairyland farm world. As well as lots of play equipment, this place has loads of animals. Best of all was watching the cows being milked. Those cows jostle each other to be milked first. We looked at pictures of the cows and Nathan said
"This one's cross and this one's not very well and this one's boring and this one says "come on let's play".

The lad's starting to want to do things himself, including taking trousers off when changing his nappy, and getting into his buggy, he almost always climbs in by himself now.

Thu 26th July
Day 1051
2Y 10M 17D

The Lappa Valley steam railway was our destination for most of the day. We had a little bit of rain at first, but the weather really improved.

We went on all three of the railways, and Nathan bought a "Thomas" fire engine, exactly like one he's already got at home.

We got home in time for a paddle on the beach.

Wed 25th July
Day 1050
2Y 10M 16D

Today we went to the Oasis at Henda holiday park. It's a swimming pool.

Then back to the caravan for lunch followed by an afternoon on the beach.

Caution not for the squeamish: For at least a year we've been giving Nathan lactulose to help soften his poos. We (just about deliberately) didn't take the lad's lactulose with us, but have been relying on our new technique of rewarding him with stickers [and while on holiday, crayons) and it's working! The skid marks are becoming a thing of the past at last, and all thanks to the psychiatrist that we're seeing for Nathan's eating.
